Samsara adds transparency to EV fleet management
Electric vehicles have unique operational challenges. Samsara’s new tools add what fleets need to manage their EVs: transparency.
As the greener alternative, and increasingly also endowed with competitive TCOs, EVs are entering the mainstream.
Charging requirements
That threatens to leave corporate fleets at a disadvantage: business still needs to get done, but EVs have unique operational challenges. In particular, because of charging requirements, EV fleets need much more planning than ICE ones.
Samsara, a leader in industrial IoT, has developed a toolkit to help fleets manage their EVs. These new features provide much-needed insight into the EV’s state of charge and efficiency, as well as the charging infrastructure.
Real-time insights
These real-time data insights allow EV fleets to:
- Combat range anxiety by showing real-time charging status.
- Get notified of low EV battery levels.
- Optimise EV route planning, with access to charging stations.
- Measure vehicle performance, to ensure that all vehicles (ICE, EV, hybrid) are performing optimally.
- Monitor charging behaviour, ensuring optimal times and places are used.
“These EV fleet management features are now part of Samsara’s complete fleet management platform, and they are available today for all existing customers,” the company revealed in a recent blog post.
