Microsoft and Ericsson partner on connected cars

Tech giant Microsoft and Sweden-based telecoms multinational Ericsson are partnering to “deploy and scale” connected-vehicle services.

Ericsson's Connected Vehicle Cloud and Microsoft's Connected Vehicle Platform will be integrated, in order to facilitate “fleet management, over-the-air software updates and connected safety services”, among others.

According to Asa Tamsons, Senior VP and Head of Business Area Technologies at Ericsson, “our integrated solutions will help automotive manufacturers accelerate their global connected-vehicle solutions and offer a better experience for drivers and passengers.”

“We intend to simplify the development of connected-vehicle services to help carmakers focus on the needs of their customers,” said Peggy Johnson, Microsoft Executive VP for Business Development.
