beepbeep e-car-sharing kicks off in Brazil

Brazilian mobility startup beepbeep mobilidade has launched its e-car-sharing service in the city of São Paulo, currently set up with 10 full-electric Renault Zoe subcompact hatchbacks which consumers can rent by the minute.

The fee for the service involves a 4.90-real (US$1.31) vehicle unlocking charge plus R$0.60 per minute. The per-minute charge from six to 12 hours drops to R$0.40 and the per-minute charge after 12 hours is R$0.30.

The Beepbeep car network should increase to 20 cars within the first month, 100 cars within the first year, and 300 cars within the first two years. A total of 3 million reais was invested to launch the service, according to local media reports.

The Zoe, which can be rented out via a mobile app at several strategic points throughout the city, puts out 110hp and has a range of 300km. According to Renault, next year's version of the car (2020) will have 135hp and a range of 390km.
