Geotab enters Brazilian market

IoT and connected transportation specialist Geotab has announced that it’s entering the Brazilian fleet market with the establishment of Geotab Telemática Ltda.

The expansion need to help Geotab to increase its presence, service offering and telematics leadership position within the Latin American fleet management market.

“While the Brazilian commercial telematics market continues to remain among the strongest in Latin America, the opportunities to scale this technology are immense,” says Geotab CEO, Neil Cawse (pictured). “Our presence in Brazil not only creates significant growth opportunities for Geotab, but also will allow us to employ local talent and invest in the immense resources and expertise that Brazil has to offer, allowing us to implement the right data-based solutions to help businesses of all sizes, better manage their fleets.”

According to data from the Confederação Nacional do Transporte (CNT), there were more than 2.2 million vehicles authorized to transport cargo in Brazil in 2019. Road transport is the prevalent method for trade and the transportation of goods in Brazil, with vehicle-based freight transportation accounting for more than 60% of Brazil’s transportation network.

Geotab began serving the Latin American market in 2012 and has had a 70 percent growth rate year-over-year in the region. The company has more than 2.3 million active telematics users and over 40,000 customers in more than 130 countries across the globe.
