Estapar, Zletric partner to install EV charging in Brazil

Brazil-based energy company Zletric and parking facilities network Estapar have inked a deal to jointly provide electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities in Brazil by way of Ecovagas.

Created in 2020, Ecovagas is controlled by Estapar together with Italy-based electric utility Enel X. Through this partnership, Ecovagas will soon have 250 charging points installed in 29 cities throughout 13 Brazilian states. Zletric also has more than 180 charging stations in 17 cities throughout six states.

The goal is to cover all places where cars are parked, including airports, shopping malls, gyms, supermarkets, hospitals, residential complexes (apartments and homes).

By year-end 2022, the group seeks to have 1,000 charging points available, serving fleet owners, automakers, and car rental companies, as well as end user customers who already have electrified vehicles.

EV recharging will see a paradigm shift, according to Estapar CEO André Iasi (pictured top left). “Recharging will not be done along driving routes as with gas stations today. People will optimize their time, recharging vehicles in places while doing daily activities or even while sleeping,” says Mr. Iasi.

“As the physical recurrence of customers in parking lots is enormous, Estapar’s customer base is critical to feeding the market,” adds Zletric CEO Pedro Schaan (pictured right above).
