Ojo takes over Gotcha, both take on Bird and Lime
Ojo, an electric scooter company from California, has announced it intends to acquire Gotcha, a scooter and bike rental service that focuses on university campuses.
According to a spokesperson for Ojo, this takeover will put the company on a path to become a top three player in the North American ridesharing market, right behind Bird and Lime.
The takeover can also be seen as a sign that further consolidation in the micromobility market is needed. Earlier, Scoot was acquired by Bird and the Latin American scooter companies Grin and Yellow merged to form Grow Mobility. Uber and Lime have also agreed on a partnership.
