Donlen readies large scale autonomous EV fleet

California-based autonomous vehicle firm Udelv and Mobileye, the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) company from Israel, are jointly preparing for the large scale deployment of self-driving electric powered delivery vehicles and US-based vehicle leasing and fleet management company Donlen has made first orders.

The vehicles, known as Udelv Transporters, will be using Mobileye’s self-driving system known as Mobileye Drive with first units expected on streets in 2023. An initial pre-order of 1,000 vehicles has been confirmed by Donlen so despite plans to deploy worldwide, the first fleet could be seen in the United States.

More than 35,000 of these vehicles are expected to be produced from 2023-2028, according to a release by technology firm Intel, the parent company of Mobileye.
