Argentine fleet manager pushes Mercosur trade alliance

Preserving automobile trade with Mercosur countries is crucial to maintaining the proper supply of vehicles in Argentina, local expert Arturo Simone told Global Fleet in an interview.

"For instance, due to a 50% cut in the number of Honda Civics being imported to Argentina from Mexico recently, we have had to advise some of our clients with purchase orders to wait another four months for delivery or to buy another make or model," said Simone who is the CEO of Argentina-based vehicle fleet management company RDA Renting.

Focusing on maintaining relationships with trade bloc members will help in situations like these, he said

Currently, full Mercosur members include Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. The EU, meanwhile, is eying the possibility of a trade agreement with these four founding members.
