Yandex acquires Wind's Israeli operations to expand delivery services
Yandex has acquired e-scooter company Wind's Israeli operations to expand its delivery services in the country and augment its mobility platform Yango.
Founded in 2018, Yandex provides ride-hailing and last-mile delivery, including express grocery delivery, which it provides under the brand name Yango Deli.
The company currently operates a network of 14 dark stores in the city and plans to double that by the end of November. Dark stores serve as a warehouse where customers pick up their orders.
Wind will provide e-scooter infrastructure
Wind is active in 13 cities across Israel. The e-scooter service will provide Yandex with more than 10,000 e-scooters, infrastructure and operation systems in Israel.
Wind, which also operates in Berlin and Barcelona, will maintain its European operations independent of Yandex.
