Europcar renews alliances in India and China
With an eye on the resumption of global travel, Europcar Mobility Group has renewed the strategic alliances of its Europcar brand with ECO Rent a Car in India and Shouqi Car Rental in China.
The alliance allows Europcar customers to book the services of both ECO and Shouqui through Europcar’s own website, and book each company’s services (i.e. car rental or chauffeur services) in India and China, respectively.
70,000 vehicles
The reverse also applies: ECO and Shouqi customers can book Europcar services in the rest of the world directly via the Indian and Chinese companies’ respective websites.
- The alliance with Shouqi Car Rental dates from 2017. Shouqi is one of China’s leading mobility players. It has a fleet of more than 70,000 vehicles, in a network of 79 stations across China.
- The alliance with ECO Rent a Car dates from 2018. Founded in 1974 and based in New Delhi, ECO is India’s leading professional car rental company. It offers more than 5,000 vehicles across 45 cities in India.
Market rebound
“With COVID-19 vaccinations currently rolling out, international travel will soon resume, so Europcar Mobility Group is preparing for the market rebound, renewing these two solid partnerships,” the company said in a statement.
Europcar expects “a strong inflow of Indian and Chinese tourists (pictured) throughout the world in the years to come.”
In 2018, there were about 150 million outbound trips from Chinese tourists and 25 million from Indian tourists travelling abroad. India and China are expected to recover to pre-COVID levels of travel before the end of this year.
