Itaú appoints Silvia Barcik to head shared EV solution initiative

Brazilian bank Itaú Unibanco has appointed Silvia Barcik to head VEC Itaú, the bank’s shared electric vehicle (EV) solution which has just been launched in Latin America’s largest city.
With 23 years of experience in the automotive industry, Ms. Barcik is a specialist in urban mobility and transportation systems in Latin America, including those associated with electric vehicles and MaaS (Mobility as a Service). She is also director for Brazilian electric vehicle association ABVE.
The bank’s mobile phone app-based service is initially offering five vehicles (a BMW i3, a Jaguar i-Pace, and three JAC iEV40s) in the city of São Paulo and be supported by four charging stations.
Currently being tested for the general public, VEC Itaú is eying collaboration with vehicle rental and leasing agencies as well as OEM dealerships.
Founded in 1924 and headquartered in the city of São Paulo, Itaú Unibanco (in par with Banco do Brasil) is the largest bank in Latin America.
