Bird sues Beverly Hills over ban

Electric scooter sharing service Bird is suing Beverly Hills over a municipal ban that let to impounds of thousands of the company's scooters.

In a complaint filed last Thursday in a Los Angeles state court, Bird alleges that the city council took the "draconian step" without consulting the public. Bird also claims Beverly Hills police started impounding scooters immediately.

In July, the city council said it was banning scooters for six months over concerns for public safety and a lack of advanced planning or outreach by providers of motorised shared scooters.
