First UAE-built EV to launch end June

The Al Damani DMV 300 is the first electric vehicle to be manufactured entirely in the United Arab Emirates. Production is set to start at the end of June 2022.

The Al-Damani, developed in collaboration with established companies including Aston Martin and General Motors, will have a battery capacity of 52.7 kWh, a top speed of 160 km/h, and a range of 405 km.

About a quarter of the Al Damani’s parts will be sourced locally. The company is also developing its own home charger, which should allow drivers to charge their EVs from empty to full in just four hours.

The organisation behind the vehicle is the M Glory Holding Group, led by Dr Majida Alazizi (pictured). An Emirati with a doctorate degree in supply chain management, she is the first Arab woman to establish a car factory in the Middle East.

Last October, the Group started setting up a temporary factory at Dubai Industrial City (DIC), which will start producing the EVs by the end of this month.

This factory has a capacity of about 8 to 10 cars per day. A new, permanent facility is being built nearby with a footprint of 1 million m2. It will employ 1,000 staff, and open in 2024. The new factory will drive up production to between 50,000 and 70,000 cars per year.
