Tesla Superchargers are now available to non-Tesla drivers in Australia

Announced on its official Twitter account, Tesla opened its first Superchargers in Australia to non-Tesla electric vehicle (EV) drivers.

The non-Tesla Supercharger program kicked off in November 2021 and saw a rapid expansion in Europe. By May of last year, non-Tesla drivers in eight European countries, including the UK, the Netherlands and France, had gained access to Tesla Superchargers. It has yet to be discovered when the non-Tesla pilot program will commence in North America, according to Electrek.

Tesla is doing quick work to support non-Tesla drivers to access the Superchargers, as any EV driver who installs the Tesla app can see the available charging stations and are able to make payment through the "Pay Per Use" feature.

According to The Driven, prices appear to be higher for non-Tesla drivers, at 79 c/kWh, while 66c k/Wh for Tesla drivers. Tesla Superchargers are only compatible with CCS (Combined Charging System) enabled vehicles.

Launched in 2012, the Tesla Supercharger network today has over 40,000 chargers worldwide.
