Ford’s Blue and Model e join commercial arm, Ford Pro

Ford Motor Company has launched Ford Blue and Ford Model e, two new divisions now joining the existing commercial arm of Ford Pro, but what are they all about?

Ford Model e will focus on technologies for future electric vehicle (EV) models as well as software and vehicle connectivity. Besides developing electric platforms, batteries, e-motors, and recycling capabilities, it will focus on the future of the car shopping, buying, and ownership experiences.

As for Ford Blue, it will streamline the company’s internal combustion engine (ICE) models by decreasing waste and production costs. It will focus on strengthening existing sub-brands such as Bronco, Mustang, Ranger, Maverick, Explorer, and F-series, with the addition of new models.

Although the two will run as distinct businesses, Ford says that they will support each other. For instance, while Ford Blue will make use of the software developed by Ford Model e, Blue will also support Model e and Ford Pro with global engineering, manufacturing, and testing systems.

With that said, Ford president and CEO Jim Farley (pictured top left) stresssed in a video release that Ford will continue investing in ICE vehicles as well as new and innovative EVs.

While Mr. Farley is now also president of Ford Model e, Kumar Galhotra (pictured top right) - who was previously president of Ford North America - is now president of Ford Blue.
