BYD, Levo Mobility team up to electrify US fleets

Multinational electric vehicle manufacturer BYD and mobility solutions firm Levo Mobility are working together to deploy battery-electric vehicles (BEV) for fleets in the United States

The collaboration involves using the vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology of Nuvye and capital from investment firms Stonepeak and Evolve, all of which have a joint venture with Levo Mobility aimed at providing Fleet-as-a-Service solutions in the country.

Levo Mobility intends to offer fully financed, V2G-enabled BYD medium and heavy-duty electric vehicles to fleets of all types including mass transit, municipalities, last mile delivery and school districts. Through a preferred financing partnership with BYD, Levo intends to purchase up to 5,000 medium and heavy duty V2G-enabled BEVs over the next five years.

Nuye’s proprietary V2G technology utilizes high-powered bidirectional charging stations, which not only charge the batteries but also discharge energy from the batteries back into the power grid as needed to help balance temporary spikes in electricity demand, news service businesswire reported.
