Nissan Leaf hits 400,000 mark worldwide

In a bit over eight years, Nissan has sold 400,000 units of the all-electric Leaf across the globe. The second-generation model, which was introduced a year ago, is the best-selling EV in Europe. It is built in Sunderland, UK, but also in Oppama, Japan and in Tennessee, USA.

In total, all 400,000 Leaf vehicles have driven over 10 billion kilometres. Each year, the Leaf fleet saves 3.8 million barrels of oil, its maker says. Earlier this year, Nissan started selling the Leaf in Latin America. By the end of 2019 further markets in Asia and Oceania will follow.

In January 2018 Fleet Europe went to Tenerife to test the Nissan Leaf.and was thoroughly convinced by its potential as a game-changer. No other OEM can leverage this amount of experience in BEVs, something that is demonstrated by the Leaf's bi-directional charging capacity.

Discover what OEMs are doing to promote electriication and reach the 95 g/km target in the video Fleet Europe shot at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.
