Egypt’s presidential initiative for green transport

During a meeting with his transport minister and high-profile automotive executives President Abdel Fattah El Sisi of Egypt issued directives for enhancing cooperation with the private sector to strengthen the e-vehicles industry.

The aim is to create a truly green automotive manufacturing process -  from vehicle assembly to complete manufacturing. This was discussed as part of the state's national strategy for green transformation.

Government and automotive sector working together

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Minister of Transport Kamel El Wazir, Board Chairman of Mansour Chevrolet Mohamed Mansour, Board Chairman of General Motors Tarek Atta and Chief Executive Officer of General Motors Company in the Middle East and Africa Loai Ashraf were all present to share their knowledge and ideas.

The president underlined the positive impact the strategy will have on the state and citizens who will benefit from the economic, environmental and health dimensions.  The strategy also includes establishing the necessary infrastructure to provide fast charge nationwide.
