Largest electric carsharing fleet in the US

Gig Car Share launches a full 260-EV fleet in Sacramento, CA, which will become the largest electric shared fleet in the country.

The Chevy Bolt EVs will be available within a 13-square-mile HomeZone which covers central Sacramento and some surrounding neighbourhoods. Membership is free, while cars are available as from $0.40 per minute, $15 per hour, or $85 per day.

And if the cheap rates aren’t sufficient to convince you, the Gig cars will also be allowed to exceed posted time limits at city meters.
Therefore, the project of Gig fits in Sacramento’s campaign to get more EVs on the road, which is backed by Volkswagen’s Electrify America programme. Moreover, Gig claims that half of its service area includes disadvantaged and low-income areas, which typically have a higher barrier to accessing EVs.

Altogether, Sacramento wants to become the ZEV Capital of California, targetting to have 75,000 zero-emissions vehicles on the road by 2025, in addition to the deployment of electric busses and on-demand shuttles.
