Geotab acquires FleetCarma

Telematics provider Geotab has acquired FleetCarma, a fellow Canadian company specialising in electric-vehicle telematics. The deal will help Geotab accelerate the introduction of EVs in fleets. 

Founded in 2007, FleetCarma provides fleet management software and its C2 plug-and-play OBD-II device to help fleets manage their battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in electric hybrid vehicles (PHEVs).

FleetCarma services mainly utility fleets in Europe and North America, who want to better understand the impact of EV charging on the electric grid.

Geotab will incorporate FleetCarma's offerings in its own product range, in anticipation of the increasing adoption of EVs by both public- and private-sector fleets in the years to come. 

“Successful adoption of Evs requires telematics. There are three moments – procurement, operation, and charging – where telematics can help”, said FleetCarma CEO Matt Stevens at the Geotab Conference where the deal was announced.
