May Mobility and Moovit partner on autonomous mobility

May Mobility, a U.S.-based developer of autonomous-vehicle (AV) technology (pictured), is entering into a strategic partnership with Moovit, the global provider of Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) solutions, to offer a complete autonomous public transit package to cities worldwide. 

Under the partnership, May Mobility’s AV fleets will work in concert with Moovit’s urban mobility app and on-demand reservation and routing software. This will allow riders to easily plan, pay for and ride in shared AVs across the globe; providing them with a safe, accessible and sustainable form of mobility. 

Moovit’s urban mobility app spans 3,500 cities in 112 countries worldwide, providing real-time info and multimodal trip planning for all transportation modes. Moovit also offers MaaS solutions to private companies, transit agencies and governments, including fleet management software and on-demand routing (via Moovit On-Demand). 

May Mobility, for its part, has completed 10 deployments in the U.S. and Japan, totalling 320,000 self-driving rides so far. At present, AV services are available in the U.S. in Texas, Michigan and Minnesota, with other deployments to follow soon. 

The partnership between both companies will provide complete mobility solutions to cities worldwide via a dedicated mobility app featuring May Mobility Avs and other public transit modes, including buses and trains. Conversely, Moovit On-Demand will be integrated into May Mobility’s backend, providing additional optimization to AV routes.
