Ride hailing fever hits Mexico

More than half of the residents in Mexico are keen to ride hailing, according to a January 2019 poll carried out by financial services evaluator Coru.com and market studies firm Brad.Feebbo.

According to the study, 30% of the poll takers use ride hailing services such as Uber, Didi, 99, and Cabify at least three times a week, 20% use it at least once a week, and 10% more than three times a week.

A total of 66% spend up to 300 pesos per week (US$16), 22% between 301-500 pesos per week, and 2% put in more than 500 pesos per week. Considering this, riders spend from 1,200-2,000 pesos per month, or at least 14,000 pesos per year.
 
While 56% of the respondents prefer to pay in cash, 20% pay with a debit card, 12% (credit card), 2% (PayPal), and 10% (other).

The poll encompasses 200 people over 18 years of age, of various socio-economic levels, and various regions of the country. Ride haling is just one of the various last-mile mobility solutions making waves in the country.
