Cabify, Lalamove pushing on-demand logistics service in Latam

Spanish ride hail company Cabify is investing US$20mn to expand its urban last mile logistic service known as Cabify Logistics in South America.

With plans to grow the product delivery arm five-fold this year compared to last, the company already has 5,000 clients, including companies such as Mercado Libre, Wendy’s, KFC, and Mercat.

Kicking off in Spain in 2020 where the company made more than 500,000 deliveries in less than 8 months, its focus in South America includes Colombia, Argentina, Peru, and Chile, servicing e-commerce, retail, pharmaceutical companies and more.

In Spain, Cabify Logistics has its own distribution warehouse in Madrid which offers next-day delivery solutions. It also has a fleet of full-electric vans.

Brazil and Mexico

Meanwhile, one competitor also setting its foot in Latin America, more so in Brazil and Mexico, is on-demand delivery app Lalamove. Founded in 2013 in Hong Kong, it has more than 8 million users, and 1.5 million delivery drivers.
