The flying taxis are coming

Now Uber has launched its ‘flying taxis’ in Melbourne and New York City, Voom, the on-demand helicopter company of Airbus, is planning to expand its service in the US as well.

While Voom already operates in San Francisco, Sao Paulo and in Mexico City, it will now expand its services in the US. Moreover, Voom’s CEO Clément Monnet told Fast Company that it will expand to 25 cities around the world by 2025.

The price you pay to move around San Francisco without traffic congestion – time is money – is about $150 for a trip to the San Francisco International Airport (7 minutes), and $300 for a trip across the peninsula (14 minutes). Which brings us to about $21 per minute flight.

To compare, the Uber helicopter service – starting next month - will take you from NYC to JFK International Airport for $200 per person (8 minutes), or for about $25 per minute in the air.
