Tesla's Full Self-Driving software is now available for more customers

Tesla is still developing the Full Self-Driving software.

Tesla extended the access of Full Self-Driving (FSD) beta software, first released to a limited number of customers last year.

Tesla customers can monthly subscribe for the FSD, which is also available with a one time $10.000 fee. Prices of monthly subscriptions change between $99-$199 as customers have the option to cancel the service anytime they want.

FSD is still under development and the full autonomous technology nevertheless requires driver control at all times when it is active. Tesla will only grant access to customers who go through a driver safety evaluation to avoid any risks with the beta version. The safety evaluation will depend on the number of risky behaviours of drivers per 1.000 miles. According to the number of sharp turns, hard brakes, unsafe following and forced autopilot engagement, Tesla will score the safety of drivers and decide if they can access FSD.

Tesla is confident in customers

The FSD is a critical update as the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) urged Tesla to address "basic safety issues." Tesla believes most of the drivers will score 80 or more out of 100 in the safety evaluation. Customers who are granted access will be able to upload the software to their cars via dashboard screens.
