Visteon and BlackBerry extends partnership to develop digital cockpits

Visteon Corporation and BlackBerry Limited expanded their collaboration to hasten the development of digital cockpit solutions for the global automotive and supplier industry.

Under the collaboration, Visteon will develop digital cockpits based on BlackBerry QNX software to be offered to multiple automakers.

BlackBerry will provide QNX software along with its QNX Software Development Platform as well as professional engineering services to provide system-level integration, performance optimization and analysis.

Boosting competition with the help of Android

Visteon hopes to accelerate in-vehicle technologies with the rapid acceptance of Android-based operating systems in cars. Boosting the performance of infotainment systems and digital instruments, Visteon SmartCore is expected to become a digital cockpit solution in the coming years.

The multi-year agreement aims to provide cutting edge technology and a chance for OEMs to differentiate themselves through cockpit design and technology.
