Harman’s TBOT is ready for future connectivity

Harman has launched Harman Turbo Connect (TBOT), an intelligent software agent that fulfils the demand for high-speed, low-latency connectivity. The 5G-enabled solution both anticipates and mitigates discrepancies in vehicle connectivity.

The automotive industry is caught between growing consumer appetite for connectivity-based solutions and the technical limits on delivering those solutions; notably issues with latency and bandwidth, not to mention the sheer speed at which technology evolves.

Long-term connectivity

Samsung subsidiary Harman’s new TBOT solution claims it can both overcome low-quality connectivity – ensuring the customers notices no gaps in streaming, calls or navigation - and deliver the innovations to come, thus also securing long-term connectivity.

A large part of TBOT’s promise stems from its 5G-readiness. Its benefits include:

  • User experience. TBOT predicts and optimises available connectivity options, allowing for an uninterrupted user experience.
  • Cost savings. TBOT anticipates connectivity status and adapts data download accordingly, reducing cost.
  • Energy consumption. TBOT shuts off transmission when possible, boosting battery life.

TBOT is only one of many things which will continue to improve by the impending introduction of 5G, Harman says.
