Uber, Didi expanding LatAm reach through Colombia

Ride-hailing app Uber will open a support center in Bogota this September with investments of US$40mn over the next five years.

The Colombia hub will be giving specialized support to users and partner drivers for the Uber and Uber Eats applications in Latin America.

Despite being illegal in the country, Uber is very popular. As such, the company is organizing dialogue with the government regarding the regulation of services, news agency Reuters reported.

Meanwhile, Chinese ride-hailing company Didi Chuxing is beginning to recruit drivers in preparations for its launch in Bogota, also seen in the second semester of 2019.
