World-class EV charging station unveiled in Mexico

Mexico City based electric vehicle (EV) charging operator XC Power and Boston based EV charging manufacturer QiOn have teamed up to launch a 1MW EV charging station in Puebla Mexico which they claim to be the highest capacity and fastest in the world.
Considered a first in Mexico, the fast-chargers work hand-in-hand with photovoltaic panels installed in a facility known as a Supercool Mobility Center, charging a vehicle in as little as six minutes or as much as 35 minutes.
This initiative is part of an overall plan by public and private sectors to deploy charging infrastructure such as the electrification of routes carried out by Puebla state Energy Agency AEEP which involves 30 chargers and the electrification of six routes.
According to the EV charging companies, a total of 15,400 charging stations are needed throughout the territory. Plans also call for Supercool Mobility Centers in other cities around the world, namely Dubai, Boston, Madrid, Sao Paulo, among others.
"This initiative is very important because it confirms that Puebla has the potential to attract investment and is on a path to positioning itself as an electromobility hub," AEEP director Ermilo Barrera was quoted as saying by local news portal Portal Movilidad.
