First commercial self-driving shuttle service launched in New York

Optimus Ride, an MIT spinoff, launched the first self-driving vehicle service in New York, operational at the Brookly Navy Yard. Six autonomous vehicles transport passengers between the NYC Ferry stop at Dock 72 and the Yards’ Cumberland Gate at Flushing Avenue.

According to The Verge, the service is extremely slow and it is limited to one single route just over a mile in length. Each car has two safety drivers.
